The
Amazon, Peru
I'm
in the middle of a tropical rain forest, humidity thick in the air,
the foliage lush and green, and the local creatures oblivious to my
presence. With a group of twelve other adventure-seekers, we are
having a grand time riding around on a boat on the Amazon River, a
muddy brown color because of the high amount of silt deposits in the
water. Whether it's scanning the river looking for pink dolphins,
visiting the nearby Yagua village to learn about traditional life and
customs in this part of the world, riding motorized rickshaws to
Mazan and Indiana to get a taste of the local markets and the
countryside, or fishing for piranhas on our last day, the Amazon has left
its mark on each of us and our time here one of discovery,
laughter, fun, and budding friendships.
