Inle Lake, Myanmar

While most of our group flew to Bangkok and then back home, a number of us chose to spend a few more days in Myanmar with a stay at Inle Lake. A short flight on Manyadanapon Airways took us to Heho and then we boarded a bus for the hour drive to the Pristine Lotus Spa Resort…with more amazing adventures to follow.
Inle Lake, fresh water and approximately 900 meters above sea level, is the most well-known scenic site in Shan State. Shallow and picturesque, it is known for its floating islands, villages where the homes are all built on stilts, colorful markets, and unique leg-rowers. Before arriving at our hotel, however, we stopped at a local “five day market.” The villagers bring their goods to sell, going to a different town each day and returning to a particular location every five days. Market day is always very busy and people come from near and far to load up their baskets.
